Pokemon Sleep has been a rather elusive app, with very little being known about it apart from its name since it was announced. Now, we have more details about what the app will entail. Similar to other games and apps from the series, you will be collecting Pokemon; however, this time, you'll be doing it in your sleep.

Thankfully, that's not all the game has to offer. You can play the app during the daytime, taking care of a different Snorlax each week, increasing your odds of finding rare Pokemon at nighttime, and, interestingly, reviewing how well you slept. Here's everything you need to know about Pokemon Sleep.

Updated July 20, 2023: We've updated this article to include the latest information and tips for Pokemon Sleep.

What Are The System Requirements?

Pokemon Sleep is not optimized for tablets, but it should work on iOS and Android mobile devices if they meet the following requirements.

Android

  • Android 7 or later
  • Network connection (Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, or 5G)

iOS

  • iPhone 7 or later
  • iOS 14 or later
  • Network connection (Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, or 5G)

Additionally, if you are using the Pokemon Go Plus+ device, you will need to be able to enable location data services for your mobile phone.

How To Play Pokemon Sleep

As you might have guessed, a big part of playing Pokemon Sleep is going to sleep. While you're asleep, Pokemon Sleep will track your sleep pattern, which determines the type of Pokemon you will find.

The higher your sleep score, the more Pokemon will appear around Snorlax afterward. Each Pokemon has a different sleep style with varying rarity, so the aim of the game is to collect as many sleep styles as possible.

You can only have two sleep sessions a day, and they have to be at least 90 minutes long each to count for research.

The app will request that you place your phone on your mattress to track your sleep, so be sure not to have it under your pillow or duvet so it doesn't overheat.

The Pokemon you find will be added to your Sleep Style Dex, the game's version of a Pokedex. The app tracks how much time you spend asleep — the longer you sleep, the higher your sleep score is.

You'll also be working alongside Neroli, a professor interested in how Pokemon sleep.

Sleep Data, Explained

Once you've collected your first sleep data, the app will break down your sleep research. You will be given a Sleep Score out of 100 — adults can achieve a score of 100 by getting at least 8.5 hours of sleep.

You'll get a graph that details the three different stages of sleep, Dozing, Snoozing, and Slumbering. This will help determine your Sleep Type, which is passed on your current data as well as past sleep sessions. Your Sleep Type will affect which Pokemon gather around Snorlax to sleep.

Befriending Pokemon

Once the Pokemon appear, you'll be able to befriend them and feed them Poke Biscuits. When you max out their Friendship Points,, you can recruit them as helper Pokemon, and they will start finding berries and ingredients for you. You can build teams of up to five Pokemon to help you.

You get one free Poke Biscuit per day, but you can purchase more if you wish.

Each Pokemon has its own stats and perks, so choose your team wisely. As Pokemon level up they unlock skills that will help you out.

Snorlax And Drowsy Power

Drowsy Power is the power that the Snorlax in the game have that lulls Pokemon near them to fall asleep. Their power is dictated by their Strength and your own Sleep Score.

This strength is then multiplied by your sleep score to make Drowsy Power. The higher the Drowsy Power, the more Pokemon appear, and the higher the chance of a rare sleep style.

Feeding Snorlax berries throughout the day and cooking for it will increase its strength. You can cook for it three times a day — morning, afternoon, and night. Your helper Pokemon will also give Snorlax snacks while you are not around to help it increase its Strength.

Every Monday, you partner with a unique Snorlax, which grows throughout the week. The bigger it grows, the higher chance you have of seeing rare sleep styles.

Sleeping Patterns And Styles

Pokemon Sleep Sleep Patterns - Dozing, Snoozing, and Slumbering

After Pokemon Sleep has tracked your sleep for the night, it will determine whether you were one of three types: dozing, snoozing, or slumbering.

The type of Pokemon that appear will depend on your sleeping type the previous night.

Each Pokemon species has their own 'style' of sleep, which you can collect. Pikachu has Droopy-eared sleep, Curled-up sleep, and Electrifying sleep, for example.

There are other unique sleep styles available. These are the ones we know so far, and how to get them:

  • Grounded-tail sleep — Leave your phone plugged in while you sleep.
  • Blinking-tail sleep — Leave your screen on while you sleep.
  • Flattened Sleep — Leave your phone face down.
  • Atop-Belly Sleep — Leave your phone by your pillow or on your bed.

Pokemon Go Plus +

If you have the Pokemon Go Plus + device, you can connect it to Pokemon Sleep and add a sixth helper Pokemon to your team — a special Pikachu wearing a nightcap.

When it's your specified bedtime and wake-up time, Pikachu will make a noise through the device to let you know. It can also sing you a lullaby when the app is tracking your sleep. You can build up your friendship with Pikachu to unlock more bonuses, such as the Pokemon collecting more berries for you.

If you connect your Pokemon Go Plus + device to Pokemon Go, it will keep a record of when you spin PokeStops, and you will be rewarded with berries in Pokemon Sleep.

Sleep Tracking Features

Alongside researching sleep styles and Pokemon, you can track your sleep. Pokemon Sleep will allow you to see:

  • Average wake-up times;
  • Average falling asleep times;
  • Average sleep duration;
  • Average time taken to fall asleep.

Pokemon Sleep will also record noises you make during your sleep and allow you to review the audio.

The audio recordings are automatically deleted after 24 hours or the next time you track your sleep. There is also an option to disable audio recordings.

You can also set a target time for when you go to bed. Every time you meet the goal, you will receive a stamp on your stamp card as well as other rewards.

Every week, you'll receive a weekly summary of how you slept.

Sleep Points

With the Sleep Pass, you earn Sleep Points based on how long your sleep session lasted, with you earning one Sleep Point for each point earned in your Sleep Score. You can then use these to purchase items from the Point Exchange, including biscuits, ingredients, evolution items, and more. The store inventory updates periodically.

As a new player, you'll earn a bonus of 600 Sleep Points once a day for the first seven days that you conduct Sleep Research.
