If you're hopping on the Pokemon Sleep hype train, you may find yourself quite the longtime fan. There are real perks to having a dedicated detector of your personal sleep patterns, and besides, it's cute, and that's what really counts. Use Pokemon Sleep for long enough - or download it just before you intend to upgrade your tech - and you'll need to figure out how to transfer Pokemon Sleep accounts between devices.

It's not as perilous as it might sound, but there are a few steps involved that need to be taken precisely as written. We'll break it all down.

Linking Accounts Via Transfer Code

There are a couple of ways to go about transferring your Pokemon Sleep account over to a new device. The Transfer Code procedure can be done through the Pokemon Sleep app itself, which is nice and convenient on the one hand, but a tad more tedious as well.

If you want to use a Transfer Code, boot up Pokemon Sleep and tap the menu button. Once you're on the menu screen, you want to go to Settings and More. From hereon out, we'll be dealing directly with code stuff - tap Link Accounts. This is where things get rolling. After tapping Issue Code, you'll be about ready to download Pokemon Sleep on the new device.

Apps are hardly incident-proof, so to save yourself from potentially having to go through the above steps again, be sure to jot down the issued code somewhere before proceeding.

Got Pokemon Sleep booted it up on the new device? You're almost done! Tap the menu, and this time, tap Support ID and Transfer Code, where you ought to be able to plug in the code you received on your first device. If all goes as planned - and it really should! - you can pick up right where you left off on your (presumably) shinier, newer smartphone or tablet.

Via Google, Facebook, Or Apple ID

So, there's another way, and it's not far off from the first, but it relies upon social media accounts rather than Pokemon Sleep's own internal code system. If you're linking content to Google or Facebook left and right as-is, there's no harm continuing to do so with the latest Pokemon phenomenon. Alternatively, your Apple ID can do the job just as well... so long as your device uses iOS, of course.

We're once again beginning with the main menu, then Settings and More, then Link Accounts. You might have noticed earlier, or heck, you may have already done this, but you can link Google, Facebook, and Apple accounts straight to Pokemon Sleep on this screen.

Now, just launch Pokemon Sleep on the replacement device, and go through the above procedure to link whichever social media account you chose all over again. The game will register that you're, for example, pokemonheartgoldisbest on Apple or whatever, and you're all set to catch some more z's.
