If you've played one Pokemon app, you've sort of played them all - Pokemon Sleep continues the proud tradition of featuring multiple currencies with nifty-sounding names in an effort to create complex economies (and hopefully compel players to shell out a little real-world cash along the way).
Dream Shards join Pokemon Sleep's little legion of in-game currencies. They're absolutely invaluable if you want to make the most of your Pokemon-catching experience, and really, if you're looking up a guide on Dream Shards, you probably do!
What Are Dream Shards?
For as long as there have been Pokemon games, there's been a level-up mechanic, and Dream Shards are necessary components in leveling up. They're also needed for evolution.
In other words, they're a big deal. By combining Dream Shards with Candy, your Pokemon's level will be elevated. Both Dream Shards and Candy quantities will increase with level, so you can't expect your Charmander to (flare) blitz its way to Charizard with a mere handful of each.
How To Obtain Dream Shards
Now that we can all appreciate the importance of Pokemon Sleep's Dream Shards, let's begin banking them to strengthen our monster friends. You'll receive Dream Shards from sleep sessions, so voilà, you should seldom have a tough time gathering at least a few at a time. That said, you'll get a higher number of Dream Shards depending on how well the app rates your session.
If you've signed up for the Premium Pass, you'll get a good chunk of Dream Clusters every three months. You'll also get a solid supply of Dream Clusters through bundles at the various exchange shops.
But wait, what are Dream Clusters? Using Dream Clusters increases the number of Dream Shards obtained during sleep sessions. So, they're sort of a welcome intermediary in the pursuit of invaluable Dream Shards.
As Pokemon Sleep updates, there may be fresh ways to acquire Dream Shards in store for longtime players. We'll be sure to let you know if so.
