Our guide on adding friends in Pokemon Sleep starts now, so grab some coffee to wake yourself up, take notes as necessary, and sleep well when you do!

How To Add Friends

Add A Friend In Pokemon Sleep

No matter how you plan to add friends, you'll start off by accessing Pokemon Sleep's main menu and finding the 'Research Community' tab among the various other settings at the bottom of the screen. These are all listed underneath the section marked 'Features'.

Once you're in 'Research Community', you should see a button at the top-right with a little stick figure representation of a person as well as the '+' sign. Click that!

Via QR Codes

The quickest way to add friends in Pokemon Sleep is through 2D QR codes. On the flip side, you have to be within the immediate vicinity of your friend in order to tap into this, so if you're adding folks from far away, you can safely skip this part.

Simply scan each other's 2D codes accessed via the aptly named 'Scan 2D code' button, and that's a wrap.

Via Research ID

If you aren't mere feet from your friend, you'll need to access the 'Enter a Researcher ID' screen, which is conveniently located the same place you'd add a QR code. Now, plug in your friend's Researcher ID, and have them do the same for you. Congrats! Your friendship now extends into sleep-tracking famous-franchise smartphone app technology.

The Benefits Of Adding Friends

First, the material reward. Regularly checking friends' sleep research will get you Candy, which is necessary for leveling and the like. It's hard to argue with free Candy, virtual or otherwise. Maybe this is all that matters to you and your mutuals, and really, it's enough!

This last bit's fairly subjective stuff. Sharing your sleep data can be used motivationally. Is your friend catching more Pokemon, and leveling them up at a more rapid rate? That friend is most likely getting better sleep.

A lot can be said for how genuinely useful Pokemon Sleep can be. A lot has been said, and no doubt even more will be said in the months to come. But one area it can be especially healthy in is motivating groups of friends and loved ones into improving sleeping habits.

Do you consider the Pokemon-catching in Pokemon Sleep to be a 'tangible' reward for your effort? If so, all the more reason to share those Researcher IDs.
