The premise of Pokemon Sleep starts off pretty simple. You research how Pokemon sleep by turning your real-life sleep schedule into in-game rewards. The game itself builds on the premise by assigning you a special Snorlax to take care of each week that becomes the focal point of your research.

It's a symbiotic relationship: the more you help Snorlax, the more it helps you attract Pokemon for your sleep research. At a certain point, you will be able to feed Snorlax different meals to increase its power. Here is how that all works.

How Cooking Works In Pokemon Sleep

You mix ingredients in a pot to cook meals in Pokemon Sleep.

In Pokemon Sleep, you are able to gather ingredients that can then be used in meals that you can feed to Snorlax. Different ingredients will result in a variety of meals, and there are recipes that require certain ingredients to use. You will throw all your ingredients into a pot to cook over your campfire.

You can actually tap to fan the flames to make your meals cook faster, otherwise cooking will take a longer amount of time to finish.

Once you unlock the ability to cook, you will first only be allowed to Auto-Cook meals at first. This involves the game automatically pulling ingredients from your inventory and mixing them together. Sometimes this results in an actual recipe, other times it can result in a generic meal.

The more ingredients you add to a dish will increase the power of the dish you make. In turn, this will increase the Strength of your Snorlax once it eats the dish. At the start of the game, you can have a maximum of 15 ingredients in the pot at a time. You can later increase the maximum by using Dream Shards.

Sometimes, a dish you make can be Extra Tasty, which means it has a higher Dish Strength than usual. Each time you make a certain recipe, it will also increase the recipe's level, which will make it better each time you make it.

How To Unlock Choosing A Recipe

You will need to study 12 different Sleep Styles in order to unlock the ability to manually create meals for Snorlax. At this point, you will be able to choose recipes that you have already unlocked or manually choose ingredients to add to a dish.

Each Snorlax will have a preferred taste. Once you can manually make your dishes, you should always cook meals based on what your Snorlax likes.

When Can You Feed Snorlax

A prompt will appear above Snorlax when you can cook for them.

Throughout the day, Snorlax can be fed the various berries that your Pokemon collect to increase its Strength. There are three additional timeframes during the day when you will be able to cook a meal to feed Snorlax.

Meal

Timeframe

Breakfast

6:00am - 12:00pm

Lunch

12:00pm - 6:00pm

Dinner

6:00pm - 6:00am

In order to begin cooking a meal for Snorlax, you simply need to tap on Snorlax when the icon shows up that it is ready for a meal. While you aren't required to cook during every mealtime, missing one means missing out on a strength boost for your Snorlax.

If you have and link a Pokemon Go Plus + device and also play Pokemon Go, you will gain extra berries in Pokemon Sleep whenever you spin PokeStops.

How To Get Ingredients

Pokemon will collect ingredients that you can use in Pokemon Sleep.

There are 15 types of ingredients you can obtain in Pokemon Sleep, and these are essential to cooking meals. Part of the job of your helper Pokemon will be to obtain various ingredients throughout the day that you can use in meals.

Keep in mind which of your helper Pokemon can provide which ingredients. If you need a specific ingredient, make sure you have a helper Pokemon on your team that can get it. Additionally, the higher a Pokemon’s level is, the more ingredients and types of ingredients they can get.

Looking at a Pokemon’s Helping Stats will show you important information that you will need to keep in mind as well. These are separated into four categories:

Helping Stat

Description

Berries

What type of berry your Pokemon will collect, and how many.

Ingredients

What type of ingredient your Pokemon will collect, and how many.

Frequency

How often your Pokemon will collect a full batch of berries and ingredients.

Carry Limit

How many items your Pokemon can hold on to at a given point in time.

Certain Pokemon Main Skills and Sub Skills have the potential to help you get ingredients, boost the likelihood of finding ingredients, or increase the number of berries and ingredients the Pokemon can hold on to at one point in time. For example, a Pokemon with the Ingredient Magnet S Main Skill will nab you six random ingredients whenever it activates.

If you are low on ingredients, but the timeframe to cook a meal for Snorlax isn't almost over, you may want to give your helper Pokemon a chance to collect more ingredients.

Another way to get ingredients is through the use of Ingredient Tickets. These are available through the Sleep Point Exchange and come in different sizes. For example, an Ingredient Ticket S can be traded in for ten additional cooking ingredients, while an Ingredient Ticket M can get you 30 more ingredients.
