Moral Kombat 1's first six DLC fighters have been confirmed, and it's absolutely wild. After months of speculation, it's been confirmed that Homelander is joining the roster, available to pick up after the game's launch on September 17, 2023. He's joined by Kombat Kid, Takeda, previous series villain Quan Chi, and more.

The pack also includes two other guest fighters: Omni-Man and Peacemaker. This pretty much confirms the rumoured comic book theme for Mortal Kombat 1's guest fighters, taking over from the movie icons of Mortal Kombat 11's DLC packs.

Homelander, Omni-Man and Peacemaker had been rumoured some time ago, but few of us thought we'd be looking at a DLC pack quite like this. Not only are the guest fighter picks absolutely bloody bonkers, but we also have the absolutely nonsensical mix of Takeda, Ermac, and Quan Chi. Because why not?

It isn't exactly clear how Takeda exists either, since the Kombat Kids aren't supposed to be around for a few more years. However, given that this is a new timeline, it's possible that he's just been born much earlier. This would open up the door to some of the others in the gang appearing - just not Cassie, since her parents don't seem to have met yet. Of course, this Takeda might not be our Takeda, just an ancestor by the same name. Or... something to do with dimensional travel? Hell, who knows.

Let's not dig into the lore too much here, because otherwise, we'll have to try and explain how Homelander, Peacemaker and Omni-Man are knocking about all at once. But I suppose this is the direction Mortal Kombat DLC is taking now. Let's just say they're from another universe too.

We didn't see any of them in action, but just having them confirmed was wild enough. The game itself hasn't even launched yet, so we'll probably have to wait until then for some gameplay footage. Especially so we don't get it muddled up with the base roster, which was also expanded tonight with the reveal of Tanya, Li Mei, and Baraka.

It's not clear how much the pack will cost, or when it will launch. However, given that it's DLC, we can safely assume that it will come at an additional fee. This is on top of Shang Tsung being a pre-order bonus fighter, something we've unfortunately come to expect from the fighting game genre.
