The latest reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 has revealed that Darrius from Mortal Kombat Deception will be making a return as one of the game's Kameo fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1 is currently being shown off as part of a dedicated panel at San Diego Comic-Con, with Ed Boon and several voice actors involved in the game taking part to talk about the next entry in the series. The big reveal of the show was a new trailer that revealed several new characters that are joining the roster, including Baraka, Li Mei, and Tanya.
Although the main reveal of the trailer was the new playable fighters, another interesting detail was that Goro and Darrius are joining the game as Kameo fighters. If you don't remember, Kameo fighters are essentially the main new feature of Mortal Kombat 1 that act as an assist mechanic that lets you bring another character in to help with the fight in various different ways.
The new trailer showed various shots of both Goro and Darrius acting as Kameos, giving us a bit of an idea on what their assist movesets will be. Goro isn't much of a reveal because he was spotted in the previous trailer for the game, but Darrius is brand new and hasn't been mentioned before. He's also far more interesting than Goro, if you ask me anyway, as he's not appeared in a game since Mortal Kombat Armageddon, the last mainline title from the 3D era.
We don't get to see too much of the pair since the trailer mostly focuses on the fully playable fighters, but we do get a decent idea of some of their moves. Goro can, unsurprisingly, use his infamous move that lets him leap into the air and land on the opponent, while Darrius seems to focus on grabs. It's not clear from the trailer what else Darrius can do, but if his old abilities are anything to go off of then it seems like he'll be melee-focused.
