You sit down to game, boot up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, and lay back while the pixelated crime fighters dance on the screen. Bliss. But something's missing, right? A night playing TMNT wouldn't be complete without your controllers oozing the smell of fresh pizza... right? A nice odour of gamer sweat and pepperoni to compliment the sidescrolling beat 'em-up action... right!?
Xbox and Paramount are giving away four TMNT-themed Series X/S controllers, the catch is that they stink of pizza. Take a whiff of it while you're gaming and you'll feel like you're waiting at the till for an authentic Brooklyn slice, something everyone has always said was missing from controllers. Silly PlayStation with its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. "Satisfy your hunger for kicking butt with the world's first-ever pizza-scented controller" the Xbox blog page reads. "Designed to deliver the smell of the Turtles' beloved meal to your game time, these exclusive [controllers] come with a built-in scent diffuser shaped like a slice of delicious New York 'za."
Each controller is unique from one another. They're also unique from every other controller on the market... because they smell like pizza. They're themed around the different Ninja Turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, with corresponding colour palettes. They're also based on the turtles' individual signature weapons.
"Fans can enter to win the wireless controllers by following Xbox Game Pass on Twitter and retweeting the official Xbox Game Pass sweepstakes tweet," the Xbox blog reads. "This giveaway will run from July 24 through August 13, 2023. For fans in NYC, you can join the celebration and check out in-person the pizza-scented controllers, load up on pizza, and play on in the Xbox Gaming Lounge at the Microsoft Experience Center on Fifth Avenue from 4-7pm ET on August 2, 2023."
Right now, the official rules and eligibility status link leads to an error, so it's not entirely clear who can take part. That being said, the rules are pretty simple--follow Game Pass on Twitter and retweet the embedded post below.
In the meantime, Shredder's Revenge is available on Game Pass, so even if you don't win a controller, you can still play with the Ninja Turtles.
