Hot off the heels of her Amazon Prime special, Skybound Entertainment has announced a new interactive visual novel RPG all about Atom Eve. Developed by The Walking Dead: Last Mile developer Terrible Posture Games, Invincible Presents: Atom Eve is launching sometime this year, and promises to unpack her struggle of balancing superhero antics with her school, family, and romantic lives.

Helming the project is creative director Jill Murray, who served as the narrative lead on Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Boyfriend Dungeon, and art director Rossi Gifford who worked as a character designer and illustrator at Marvel, Riot Games, and Skybound.

"I love this game for its fresh spin on the original comic's artwork and style," Invincible creator Robert Kirkman said. "Terrible Posture Games, Jill Murray, and Rossi Gifford do an incredible job of bringing 20 years of Invincible to new life in a game that really looks and feels like a comic book."

“Atom Eve's complexity, creativity, and wry sense of humor make her such a joy to build a game around," Murray said. "I can't wait to share her powers and unique point of view with players".

Atom Eve gameplay

Not only will the game see us unravelling the story of Atom Eve's life at school and as a superhero, but it will also let us step into her shoes (or spandex) to fight baddies by night. You can see this in action above--combat is turn-based and has you select from several possible moves, such as "Punch". Attacks also use up energy, which we can see below Atom Eve's health bar. Punch uses the least, but other moves that tap into her superpowers expectedly use more.

"It has been hard to keep this game a secret," Gifford said. "Being entrusted by a fellow creator to bring Atom Eve to life through my art has been such an honor. As a big fan of Invincible, I’m excited to show what we have in store for our players!"

While this is an expansion of Invincible's world, the story is not set in stone. Thanks to it being a visual novel, you can shape the outcome through your choices, unlocking new dialogue options depending on what you say and do throughout the game. And with it being an RPG, you can of course upgrade Atom Eve's powers and unlock special combat skills to make use of when duking it out in parking lots.

Atom Eve isn't the only Invincible game in development right now. Ubisoft is making a mobile exclusive title called Guarding the Globe, an idle squad-based RPG. This is a little less hands-on since you'll be tasked with assembling squads to run fights for you while you're off doing something else outside the game. If that's not your thing, Omni-Man is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the first DLC, which will bring all the brutality of the comics to life in a fitting sandbox of gruesome fatalities.

Invincible Presents: Atom Eve is available to wishlist on Steam right now.
