Barbie has accomplished many things over the years. She's become a famous doll icon, has amassed a huge outfit collection, and even ran for president. But the one thing that Barbie hasn’t done yet is become a Pokemon Master. Heck, Barbie doesn’t even have a Pokemon team. Well, that changes now.
Luckily, there are many Pokemon for Barbie to choose from. But, there are some 'mons that fit the Barbie aesthetic better than others. So, grab your Running Shoes and stock up on Luxury Balls because here are ten Pokemon that would definitely be on Barbie’s Dream Team.
10 Cosplay Pikachu
There’s no denying that Barbie is a recognizable protagonist, which is why she should have the most recognizable partner, Pikachu, on her team. But not just any Pikachu, Cosplay Pikachu. Who is Cosplay Pikachu? Well, back when Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were released for the 3DS, you were gifted Cosplay Pikachu, a Pikachu whose five different Contest looks allowed them to use five unique moves.
Wouldn’t Barbie and Cosplay Pikachu be the most fashionable and deadly partners on the battlefield? Not only will Cosplay Pikachu have the ability to change outfits, but they will also be able to defeat enemies by using powerful attacks like Meteor Mash and Draining Kiss.
9 Sylveon
Doesn't Sylveon just scream “Barbie”? From its pink and blue color scheme to the bows and ribbons crisscrossing across its body, Sylveon is a Pokemon that combines power and cuteness together. A Fairy-type from the Kalos region, Sylveon is one of Eevee's many final evolutions which, despite having an innocent appearance, is quite deadly in battle.
However, it is stated in a few of its Pokedex entries that Sylveon prefers to end conflicts calmly rather than violently. Choosing compassion over fighting is a move that Barbie would definitely approve of if it means ending arguments without bloodshed.
8 Zoroark
Throughout the years, Barbie has seemingly been everywhere at once. She’s had many careers, photo shoots, and worldwide activities to attend to. And although she handles all these appearances with grace and confidence, surely showing up to that many events would take a toll on her physical and mental health. That is unless Barbie catches the Illusion Fox Pokemon, Zoroark.
Known for creating lookalikes and protecting their packs, Zoroark can not only look out for Barbie but can also help her when she's overworked. Maybe with this Pokemon by her side, Barbie can finally take a well-deserved break.
7 Gholdengo
What are two things Gholdengo and Barbie have in common? Well, first off, they are both very easy to become friends with. According to Gholdengo’s Pokedex entry, this Steel and Ghost type is compatible with any Pokemon or trainer. The second thing that Gholdengo and Barbie have in common is that they are both rich. Ridiculously rich.
Gimmighoul’s evolution into a Gholdengo can only happen if a thousand gold Gimmighoul Coins are found. Once that collect-a-thon’s over, Gholdengo can finally make its very expensive appearance. Do you know who else has collected a lot of wealth over the years? That’s right, Barbie.
6 Galarian Rapidash
Barbie has to have a Pokemon that resembles a horse, she just has to. So many of Barbie’s past play sets have come with a plastic horse. She even wears a pink cowboy outfit in the Barbie movie. So logically, one of the members of Barbie's team has to be a quadrupedal ‘mon, and Galarian Rapidash fits the bill perfectly.
Known as the Unique Horn Pokemon, this horned horse has a cotton candy color palette and powerful psychic abilities. Thanks to its dual Fairy-typing, Galarian Rapidash can take out any Dragon-types that dare cross Barbie’s way.
5 Tsareena
Let’s face it; Barbie is a queen. Sure, a lot of movies depict her as a princess, but princesses eventually become queens who lead their people. And the Pokemon equivalent to this royal title is the Grass-type Tsareena from the Alola region.
Not only is Tsareena a very fashionable Pokemon, as evidenced by its tiny little crown, its mangosteen skirt, and its thigh high boots, Tsareena is also powerful too. Its signature move Trop Kick, coupled with its signature ability Queenly Majesty, is sure to make any trainer flinch. With Tsareena by her side, Barbie proudly can lead her team to many dignified and awe-inspiring victories.
4 Primarina
Fun fact: Barbie loves to sing. Therefore, at least one Pokemon should harken back to Barbie’s singing days. There should also be a Pokemon that reflects Barbie’s time as a mermaid. Now, which ‘mon has a mermaid-like tail and sings? If you guessed Primarina, you're correct.
The final evolution of Popplio, Primarina, has the stage presence of a performer and the impressive Water-type moves of a Champion. Attacks like Sparkling Aria showcase Primarina’s love for singing while also dealing critical damage to those that get hit. Barbie might not be able to sing while battling, but Primarina sure can.
3 Goodra
One of Barbie's first film appearances was Barbie as Rapunzel. During the movie, the then long-haired blonde heroine had a purple dragon friend named Penelope. Now, what other Dragon is purple and friendly? Why, that’s Goodra, the Dragon and Steel-type Pokemon.
First appearing in Pokemon X and Y, Goodra is described as being affectionate, friendly, and slimy. Very slimy. But with great slime comes great power. Goodra boasts a high special defense stat and high total base stat. That means it can act as a strong, defensive tank for Team Barbie.
2 Gallade
Remember when Barbie was a musketeer? No? Well, she was one in Barbie and the Three Musketeers. It's a shame that, following that adventure, Barbie has not had many sword-fighting opportunities.
So, as a fun callback to when she wielded a blade, Barbie should have the Blade Pokemon, Gallade on her team. The evolved form of male Kirlia, Gallade encompasses the same honor and strength that musketeer Barbie once had. Not to mention that, once he Mega Evolves, Gallade receives a very stylish, musketeer-like wardrobe upgrade.
1 Magearna
Magearna and Barbie are more similar than you think. Known as the Artificial Pokemon, Magearna is a unique Mythical ‘mon whose true form is housed in its human-made, robotic body. Magearna has two forms, and once it regains its original color form, its updated Pokedex entry reveals that Magearna was once a present gifted to a princess.
Essentially, Magearna was the princess's new toy. Their new doll. Now, who does that remind you of? Who else is often given as a gift and is also a doll? Yup, it's Barbie.
