While you wouldn't immediately think of Dungeons & Dragons when it comes to Barbie, you also probably didn't think of Oppenheimer either. It's the year of contrasts. Plus, with the number of jobs Barbie has had throughout the decades, is it really that hard to imagine her slaying dragons?
Either way, she definitely could if she wanted to, and even Ken has his own talent that could probably count as a class of some kind. With the amount of different Barbies and Kens that have come out and just how many Dungeons & Dragons classes there are, it's no wonder that some of them just perfectly match a Dungeons & Dragons class.
10 Barbie - Multiclassed Into Everything
It may be cheating, but it's not. Barbie doesn't care about power gaming. She doesn't care about utilising the best multiclass combinations to create the perfect character that could solo a Beholder. Barbie is just into everything, and she's also the type of character with the player who just always gets natural 20s, to the point where they even use another person's die and, well, would you look at that, Barbie got another crit. But can we really expect anything else? It's Barbie!
She loves being able to use her disguise kit (makeup) as a Rogue, she loves to sing like a Bard, and sometimes the power of friendship gets her through the day (that's Cleric by the way). Thus, Barbie is just a mishmash of everything.
9 Ken - Bard
Ever since it was revealed Ryan Gosling would be performing a song on the Barbie soundtrack, it was pretty clear that this iteration of Ken would just be a Bard. After all, he is classically handsome and charismatic, so it does fit.
But, for both Ken and the world, it is probably best that he doesn't have innate magic like a spellcaster. Plus, it is definitely the class he'd play and would sing actual songs at the table whenever using Bardic Inspiration. It's a little cheesy but you grow to quickly love it and he means well, even if he always ends up romancing Barbie no matter the character.
8 Physicist Barbie - Life Cleric
As said before, the power of friendship is a great thing and physicist Barbie has honed this well as a Life Cleric. She's the best subclass for a healer, able to fix up anything and everything. After all, when can a Barbie possibly be bad at anything and when is a Life Cleric ever going to really be bad at healing somebody?
You may wonder if Barbie is a Life Cleric, what God does she subscribe to? Well whatever the deity is, they're pink, plastic and fantastic, someone who clearly stands up for Barbie's ideals and it's partly why she's so good at her healing.
7 Ken 2 - Fighter
This Ken is a little basic, and although he has a dance sequence, he doesn't seem to have that special kind of love of the song that Ryan Gosling's Ken has. Therefore, this Ken, otherwise known as Simu Liu's Ken 2, would just be a Fighter.
It even makes sense since he seems to have some physical confrontation with Ken, which means he probably knows some combat. You may be wondering, why not something akin to a Monk or Barbarian? Kens don't have Ki and they definitely don't have any sort of Rage like such classes. They're just Ken.
6 President Barbie - Wizard
To be a president you'd have to be (hopefully) intelligent, and you can make your arguments about how true or false this is in the real world.
But this isn't the real world. This is Barbie's world and in Barbie's world, everything is perfect, including our very own President Barbie. It's clear that Issa Rae's Barbie is a Wizard, intelligent and capable just like any Wizard should be. She definitely has the charisma too, but that's probably just an innate feature, you know, from being a Barbie and all, so we can't chalk that up to her class.
5 Alan - Homebrewed Bard
Alan is an oddity, to say the least. As Ken's friend, he definitely gives the vibe of someone who, if in an actual Dungeons & Dragons game, would be a first-time player that Ryan Gosling's Ken invited to an already running campaign and would awkwardly fit in.
Since he's so close to Ken, he would probably be a Bard but something underpowered, more specifically an unbalanced homebrew Bard that he and Ken likely came up with themselves. Don't worry, we're sure that he'll probably just choose one of the other Bard subclasses. Hopefully.
4 Gymnast Barbie - Monk
Gymnast Barbie is a Monk. We know, it may come across as wholly controversial. A gymnast? A Monk? Really? How could that possibly be? Where is the connection? But yes, it's true. This is real journalism, and so we have to dig deep to find such answers.
Although some could argue that she would be a Rogue, she definitely isn't one who looks like the stealthy type with her crayon marks and wild hair clearly cut by a child. Plus, what Barbie wants to be stealthy when you can have stage presence?
3 Gloria - Light Cleric
Unlike most of the characters, Gloria isn't a Barbie or a Ken. In this campaign, she has the unconventional backstory of being an actual human being who tries to help Barbie when she comes to the real world. It seems that Gloria is a shining light who will help Barbie when she needs it most, meaning she is obviously a Light Cleric.
After all, it's not like she'll be armed to the teeth and ready to fight things, instead, she seems to be more the spiritual type who will help Barbie heal emotionally.
2 Ken 3 - Bard... Again
Are you really surprised? Yes, the next Ken is also a Bard. It seems the slogan that 'He's just Ken', really applies because this Ken would be a Bard but perhaps one that is less of a performer type like the first Ken.
This means that this Ken, played by Ncuti Gatwa, would probably be either more knowledgeable of combative, like a College of Lore Bard or College of Valor. We think he's likely to be more knowledgeable although definitely not as knowledgeable as Barbie.
1 Lawyer Barbie - Inquisitive Rogue
So, remember when we said Barbie couldn't be a Rogue? Well, there are new developments all the time, so breaking news, this Barbie is a lawyer and an inquisitive Rogue. You may be wondering where she is finding the time to be both? Well, a little secret, Barbies are smart and so both her jobs as a lawyer and a Rogue are actually linked. It's wild, we know, but that's the beauty of Barbie.
And what's more perfect than a lawyer that, like an Inquisitive Rogue, would be able to know all your secrets and deceptions? Plus, if it came to a fight, we're sure that this is the Barbie that would likely be able to pull out some devastating blows. Who says Barbies can't be multifaceted?
