Find Your Belongings: Detailed Walkthrough

While wandering through the Druid Grove in Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3, chances are that you'll encounter Mattis (X:244, Y:552), a young tiefling boy attempting a scam on passing travelers. Whether you see through his tricks or not, after the conversation, you'll notice your bag is lighter. This will trigger the start of the "Find Your Belongings" quest.

Confronting Mattis or his bodyguard Silfy won't get you far, and following them leads to a dead end at a Rocky Crevice that—if you're playing as one of the many Medium-sized playable races—is too small for you to squeeze into. As it turns out, finding your lost items lies in a different Tiefling child.

If you haven't already, backtrack up the path to find Doni (X:226, Y:552), another Tiefling boy who communicates through only grunts and gestures. Speak to him and choose the "Try to see what he's looking at" dialogue option. Succeeding in the resulting Investigation (INT) check will allow you to observe him vanishing through a Concealed Hatch.

Lots of rolls are made during this sidequest. Use the Guidance cantrip to add a little boost to your ability checks!

After this interaction, return to your camp and take a long rest. The next day, you'll be able to find Doni exactly where he disappeared the day before. Speak to him again, using an Insight (WIS) check to inquire about his disappearance.

If you pass that check, using a Persuasion (CHA) check can convince Doni to show you exactly how to open the Concealed Hatch, giving you access to the Tiefling Hideout hidden within the Druid Grove.

Once you gain entry to the Tiefling Hideout, you can then negotiate with Mol, the leader of the Tiefling child gang, to reunite at last with your lost belongings.

Saving the Tiefling girl, Arabella, from the druids can aid in greasing palms for a smoother negotiation with Mol.

Clearly, there are a ton of rolls involved in this side quest. But don't go rushing for the Load Game button yet, even if you fumble on any of them!

Even if you miss the hatch, or fail to persuade Doni to reveal the hideout, there's still hope for your lost items! You can go and save the Tiefling boy Mirkon from harpies near the Secluded Cove (X:314, Y:541), after which he will gratefully provide you with the password to access the Tiefling Hideout.
