Demons and sympathizers that worship Lilith have taken over many of the settlements and Strongholds of Sanctuary in Diablo 4. There are three Strongholds in the Fractured Peaks area, but only Nostrava provides a new Waypoint for the region.

Despite being the first region you will explore in the game, it makes it no less dangerous. Nostrava has a serious demonic presence and is filled with manic Lilith cultists. That said, Nostrava will likely be the first Stronghold you will liberate in the game. However, you will need to be at least level 15 to attempt to complete the Stronghold.

Where To Find Nostrava

Diablo 4: Nostrava Stronghold on map

Nostrava is found in the Pallid Glade area and near the Desolate Highlands in the west of Fractured Peaks. You can reach Nostrava by traveling the northwestern path from Navesk or taking the western path from Kyovashad.

Investigating The Village

Diablo 4: Investigate the Chapel

Once you enter Nostrava, walk up the northern path to reach the chapel atop the hill and interact with the priestess chanting at the altar. This will trigger Negala to burst from the priestess.

Kill all the crazed Priests and militias in the chapel that attack you — AoE abilities will work well here. Next, descend into Nostrava to investigate the villager's homes. You will be attacked by many demonic enemies, such as the ranged Succubus, Oppressor, and the nimble Flesh Threshers.

Destroy The Demonic Effigies

Diablo 4: Destroy Demonic Effigies

You will discover that the villager's homes hide Demonic Effigies and prisoners rejecting Lilith and the cultists. You will need to destroy the five Demonic Effigies marked on your map.

Mother's Chosen enemies guard the first effigy you'll encounter in Nostrava. These cultists use spells in combat, but you will also be attacked by Oppressors, large demons that deal serious melee damage. In the house, you will briefly fight Torvala, one of the three Succubi that you will fight during the fight with Negala.

Before you leave the house, make sure to free Emma from her shackles and duck through the back of the house to activate a Lilith Altar to get a regional character attribute bonus.

Outside in the village streets, several demons will spawn, including Elite enemies, Oppressors, and Flesh Threshers; you will want to play defensively as enemies will always have a few levels over you.

In the northwestern house, you will briefly fight Korzira, one of the three Succubus bosses that you will fight outside the chapel. Each house you visit will trigger an Elite enemy to spawn.

Negala Lilith's Chosen Boss Guide

Diablo 4: Negala Lilith's Chosen fight
  • Once you destroy all five Demonic Effigies, return to the chapel to face Negala Lilith's Chosen.

Negala is a unique Succubus with powerful ranged abilities. To make matters worse, Negala will summon both Korzira and Torvala to fight you simultaneously once you lower her health by a quarter of her health bar. All three Succubus have the same deadly attacks.

They will fire basic projectiles at you and launch a homing projectile that inflicts great damage. However, the special attacks they begin to use in the latter half of the battle and the small arena make this a difficult boss fight.

Abilities inflicting the Daze effect will not work on Negala, Lilith's Chosen, or any other Succubi in the fight. Damage over time effects works extremely well, however, as you'll be able to deal damage while evading attacks.

Once you've lowered a Succubus's health down to a health marker, it will trigger all the Succubi to begin using their special abilities. Therefore, you can whittle down each Succubus's health slightly above their markers to make all of them easier to kill during the next phase of the battle.

Use Elixirs To Bolster Your Stats

Diablo 4: Use Elixirs to bolster your stats

Before you begin the fight with Negala, returning to create a portal to Kyovashad and craft some Elixirs is a good idea. While you'll most likely be fighting Negala Lilith's Chosen before level 20, you can still get access to some powerful Elixirs to bolster your stats in battle.

The type of Elixir you use in the fight will depend on your class; therefore, adjust accordingly to your build. For example, you could opt for the Weak Iron Barbs Elixir, as this will increase your Armor and Thorn damage, or you could pick the Weak Third Eye Elixir to increase your Dodge by four percent for the fight.

Unfortunately, you won't get access to the Elixir of Demon-Slaying until level 36. Still, if you can wait to level 20, you'll be able to use the Weak Assault Elixir, which increases your Attack Speed by 7 percent, making it a bit easier to land more attacks before one of the Succubi charge you.

All three Succubi will surround and attack you; however, if you can summon minions to fight for you, you can divide the Succubus' attacks, making it easier to focus on one Succubus at a time.

Shockwave Attacks

Diablo 4: Shockwave Attack

Once Negala, Torvala, and Korzira start firing lightning orb attacks, the arena becomes difficult to navigate. The orbs will emit lightning, so you must stay out of range of them.

These orbs will litter the arena and become increasingly harder to dodge as the Succubi attacks become more frequent. The Succubi will simultaneously fire multiple basic projectiles at you that will home towards you. However, the shockwave attack deals little damage compared to Negala's charge and AoE attacks.

Exploding Pools Attacks

Diablo 4: Exploding Pools Attack

Negala and the other succubi will begin to cast exploding pools AoE attacks that cover a large circular area once you've lowered their health down one marker. Sometimes these spells can overlap and stack damage to you. These AoE moves are cast in a straight line, but you will have a brief time to evade these attacks.

You're not safe standing in between the Exploding Pools, as this leaves you open to being charged by Negala and the other Succubi.

Lightning Charge Attack

Diablo 4: Charge attack

Once you kill one Succubus, the remaining two will attack more frequently and begin charging you with red lightning dealing major damage and blinding you for a short period of time.

While your blind, you won't be able to see incoming projectiles and attacks before it's too late. So we suggest that you activate one of your defensive skills.

You must avoid this attack at all costs. You won't get much time to react to it, but you can expect it if you attack a Succubus from the front for half a dozen or so strikes.

The Succubi will attack quickly and cover the small arena in lingering attacks. Therefore, you will need multiple defensive abilities to fight the Negala, Lilith's Chosen boss. One evade is not going to cut it.

Concealment is a fantastic ability the Rogue uses to temporarily gain invisibility from enemies and bosses. This skill, alongside Shadow Step and your evade ability, gives you three dodges during the fight with Negala.

Clearing The Nostrava Stronghold

Diablo 4: Wanderer's Shrine

Interact with the Wanderer's Shrine after you have defeated Negala, Lilith's Chosen to unlock Nostrava as a settlement; you will need to activate the Waypoint in the center of town.

In Nostrava, you will find a blacksmith, Stable Master, Healer, Weapon Vendor, and the Cultist Refuge Dungeon.
