Dead Island 2 has no shortage of backtracking. Once you have completed Michael Anders and the Holy Grail, you'll return to Beverly Hills, only this time under nightfall and with Slobber Apex Zombies roaming the area. Dambuster Studios will throw another Apex Zombie into the mix in the upcoming Justifiable Zombicide Story Quest.
While You've been a busy bee wrestling with undead actors and high-tailing it after a Hollywood agent hell-bent on retrieving a trophy, Sam B and Ronnie have found a cache of guns. But they need your help acquiring them. It's time to lock, load, and send the undead back to hell with good old-fashioned firepower.
Justifiable Zombicide Questline
Justifiable Zombicide begins after you defeat Alesis Hernandez at Monarch Studios and complete Michael Anders and the Holy Grail Main Quest. But before you head back to Beverly Hills, pick up The Rav-Ages of Caustic-X Halperin Hotel Side Quest from Hana via radio.
Traveling back to Beverly Hills, you will emerge in the Water Facility area that was previously inaccessible. The Gate Control Room that contains the Water Facility gate controls is locked and requires Phil's Keys to be opened.
To acquire the key, you'll need to dig deeper into the facility, but not before you snatch the Electric Star Curveball embedded in the chain link fence.
Navigating The Pipes
Your first obstacle is a leaking pipe spilling Caustic-X acid onto the floor, blocking the route to the next area. Jump down into the broken metal grate to find the wheel to shut the valve. Be careful of the Hydration Zombies.
Hydration Zombies can cause some significant damage to you if you get caught in electrical damage. Although you could use electricity to your advantage by throwing an Electric-Star to chain kill them all.
Finding The Circuit Breaker
To track down Phil's Key to open the Gate Control Room, you must obtain a Circuit Breaker to open the door to the next area located left of the catwalk. To get the Circuit Breaker, walk along the catwalk and kill the zombies in the small fenced-off area.
You can throw the Circuit Breaker over the fence for later pickup.
With that complete, destroy the boxes covering up a hole in the fence to get back to the door leading to the next area.
You can loot a Disaster Relief Case by turning the Caustic-X valve and then dropping it under the metal grate where you find the Circuit Breaker.
Pipes, Valves, And Pressure
With the next area unlocked, head into the depths of the Water Facility; there is an optional Fuse Box location to the right of the corridor. Nevertheless, continue until you reach two walkways covered with Caustic-X slime.
To progress to the next room, you must switch the Flow Control found in the middle of the room to the right-hand side, allowing you to shut off the pipe spewing Caustic-X onto the floor. Next, turn the Water Lever on to clear the way to the Water Treatment room.
The area is filled with firefighter zombies immune to electrical and fire damage.
Matching the pressure of the pipes with the numbers displayed on the tanks is your next objective. Activate the pipe displaying twenty pressure first to match Tank 1.
Then activate the valve in the small fenced-off room to match Tank 2's seventy pressure. Before entering, you must destroy the power box in the corner to clear the electrified water. Turn the valve displaying fifty pressure.
Obtaining Phil's Key
This will unlock the room on the left walkway. However, before entering, you must shift the Flow Control back to the left side and clear the Caustic-X slime by turning off the valve and pulling the Water Lever.
You'll find Phil, a Crusher Zombie, a few walkers, and Firefighter zombies. You must kill Phil to obtain the key to open the Gate Control Room.
You can use your environment to your advantage by reactivating the Caustic Pipe Valve. Don't forget to pick up the In The Pipes Journal Entry before leaving.
Once you pick up Phil's Keys, a group of runners will spawn and attack you. After dealing with them, it's time to head back to the Gate Control Room and meet up with Sam B and Ronnie.
You will find a Workbench, Sledgehammer, and a weapon mod in the Gate Control Room. Use this time to repair your weapons and stock up on Med Kits because you'll shortly face another boss.
Meeting Sam B And Ronnie
Free at last, exit the Water Facility and run down the hill and walk through the hole that the crashed truck has made to meet up with Sam B and Ronnie, who have found a cache of guns at Nikki Gutte's Mansion.
Fighting Nikki Gutte
Unfortunately, as you break into the mansion, Nikki Gutte appears as a Screamer Apex Zombie who calls a horde of zombies to devour Ronnie—prompting the next boss fight.
We recommend you try interrupting the Screamer as it charges up for a scream to stop it from attracting more zombies to your location. You can do this by throwing a weapon or Curveball at her.
Weapons modded with the electrocutor mod are very effective at taking down basic Screamers. The stunning effect leaves them paralyzed and unable to scream, but they are ineffective against Voltaic Screamers.
If Nikki snowballs and multiple hordes of zombies appear, blow up the heaters dotted around the garden. But remember that you won't be able to use them for the upcoming zombie siege.
Re-Join Sam In The Gun Room
With Nikki Gutte dead, meet up with Sam B and pick up the Sporting Rifle from the wall but save picking up the ammo for later.
This next bit is fun. You've got an unlimited supply of ammo, so grab it as much as possible during the fight, as it will close once the sequence is over.
Kill as many zombies as you can without letting them into the mansion. If any get passed, they will climb the stair and into your room, so take note of any that get through and be ready to take them out behind you.
During this fight, you must kill Screamers, Slobbers, and Crushers, so aim for the head to land critical hits. Moreover, shoot any heaters or fuel jerrycans lying about.
Main Quest Rewards
Once you've killed every zombie in the garden, mop up any last stragglers on the stairs and re-group with Sam-B. However, before you meet Sam in the Gun Room, loot all the items dropped by the zombies in the garden.
After some cutscenes, the Saddle Up For Santa Monica quest to is ready to be started.
You will receive the following rewards for completing the Justifiable Zombicide Quest:
- 6,000 XP
- Uncommon Ranged Puncturator Mod
- Screamer Apex Zombies
