If you just started Tears of the Kingdom, odds are you've run into a cool-looking machine made of Zonai parts, only to be disappointed by the very low amount of Energy Cells you have at your disposal. Tears of the Kingdom starts you off with one Energy Cell which, while it can be enough for certain machines, will run out quickly the more you tinker around with the devices.
If you're looking to increase your Energy Cells, you'll need to hunt down some Crystallized Charges. Unfortunately, they can be hard to come across, but as you familiarize yourself with the game, you'll be able to hunt them down with greater ease. Here are all the best ways to collect Crystallized Charges.
5 Traversing The Sky
Exploring the sky is one of the most enjoyable experiences in Tears of the Kingdom, featuring plenty of fun things to discover. Of the many different things you can find in the sky, Crystallized Charges are among them.
During your journey in the sky, you will encounter plenty of bosses, and a select number of them will give you 20 Crystallized Charges upon defeating them, among other rewards. These bosses will often give you Zonai Devices as well, giving you something to use those Energy Cells on. While it may not be the premier place to discover them, you can come across some Crystallized Charges during your journey in the sky.
4 Hunting Down The Yiga Clan
One of the biggest quests down in the depths of Hyrule is defeating the infamous Yiga Clan. While taking down their members, you will not only be rewarded with the schematics for their machines, but you'll also collect Crystallized Charges from them.
The Yiga Clan have plenty of bases in the depths, so while you're exploring them you may get sidetracked by a handful of Yiga Clan bases. Each base nets you 20 Crystallized Charges, as well as some other rewards. These Crystallized Charges are gained from treasure chests, so once you collect them you won’t be able to recollect them after the blood moon rises. Even so, taking down the Yiga Clan is a very rewarding process and a great way to collect Crystallized Charges.
3 Fighting Enemies In The Depths
While you traverse the depths, you’re bound to run into a handful of enemies that look consentingly similar to the ones you see on the surface. While it can be tempting to just avoid them, especially considering the nasty gloom you’ll have to deal with, you may want to consider fighting them if you’re on the hunt for Zonaite.
In addition to the rewards these enemies will give you for defeating them on the surface, they’ll also drop Zonaite, a resource that can be converted into Crystallized Charges. Defeating underground enemies is a quick and easy secondary way to gain Crystallized Charges, as while you're exploring the numerous things hidden in the depths, you’ll be pitted against numerous enemies.
2 Mining Zonaite
Zonaite is a very valuable resource to collect, primarily found beneath the depths, and while you’re traversing it you’ll come into contact with plenty of it. As long as you have a weapon that can easily break the boulders like a rock hammer, you’ll be swimming in Zonaite, as well as the much more lucrative Large Zonaite in no time. While there are individual boulders of Zonaite all over the depths, you’ll find lots of Zonaite sources next to enemy bases, as well as in the various mines scattered across.
Once you’ve racked up enough of those resources, you can head to one of the many Zonaite exchanges in the depths, which will allow you to trade them in for Crystallized Charges and Large Crystalized Charges. Crystallized Charges cost three Zonaite, and Large Crystallized Charges cost three Large Zonaite respectively.
1 Fighting Bosses Underground
By far the best way to gain large amounts of Crystallized Charges is by fighting bosses in the Depths. These bosses mirror the ones you will fight in the sky and on the surface, and will give you Large Crystallized Charges, equating to 1/5th of an energy cell, as well as Huge Crystallized Charges, which equates to a complete energy cell.
Most of the bosses that you fight in the overworld are more common, and give you the Large Crystallized Charges, while the bosses you fight in dungeons, and select overworld bosses, give you the Huge Crystallized Charges. Best of all, these bosses respawn when the blood moon rises, so once you defeat a handful of them, you can fight them once again and recollect the Crystallized Charges. If you’re eager to fill up as many energy cells as possible, you’ll want to mark boss locations on your map, and battle as many of them as you can in a blood moon cycle.
