Diablo 4's latest patch has gone down like a lead balloon, nerfing pretty much all classes and making the endgame more of a chore in the process. However, not all of the patch was dedicated to nerfs, as Blizzard has introduced a number of new Uniques to Diablo 4 for players to find during the Season of the Malignant. There's one Unique for each class, along with a neutral one for everyone, but just like with the patch itself, Sorcerers have been dealt a bad hand.
The Unique added for Sorcerers is a wand called The Oculus, which has an added side effect of teleporting the player to a random location whenever they evade. Even on paper, that sounds like a pretty bad side effect to put up with, but it turns out that it's even worse in practice. First posted to the Diablo 4 subreddit (thanks GamesRadar), a video showing off The Oculus in action is causing some to feel a bit ill, prompting health concerns from other players. Be warned that there are frequent flashing images up ahead.
You can find the video embedded below, uploaded by u/dreamknoxville. It begins with the player slowly making their way through a cave before being set upon by a number of enemies. Using The Oculus, they quickly zip around the enemies dealing lightning damage, combining it with a range of other skills to deal some pretty decent damage. However, the nature of the random teleportation make the video extremely jumpy and it drags the camera all over the place at a quick pace.
At its very worse, it's actually making some players nauseous by just watching the video, never mind actually controlling the character themselves on a larger screen. There are several concerns that the flashing lights could cause problems for people with epilepsy, while u/Logax187 explains that their history of Meniere's disease forced them to stop the video after just a few seconds as they felt dizzy.
It's even difficult to watch with those without diagnosed illnesses, as u/Chafga explains they got a "little nausea twinge" just from watching, while u/so4d_st explains that it made them dizzy after watching the video.
Others are simply irritated by how ridiculous it looks, but the potential health problems are the primary cause for concern, and something Blizzard should address if the issue becomes widescale. Granted, it could just be the video itself causing problems, especially since it's taking place in a dark enclosed area like a cave, but Blizzard really shouldn't be taking chances like this when it comes to the well-being of their players.
