Assassin's Creed's upcoming mobile game Codename Jade is getting a closed beta, and you can sign up now. The beta period will start on August 3, available on both iOS and Android.
This will be the first time fans have been able to try Codename Jade out themselves, which seems to be quite unique from other instalments in the series. This isn't just because it's a mobile title, but because it's the first Assassin's Creed game developed in partnership with Tencent-owned Level Infinite.
Sign-ups are live on the Assassin's Creed Codename Jade website now. Presumably, not everyone who puts their name down is guaranteed access. And no, we also have no idea what the game will actually be called yet, with Ubisoft once again reminding us that this is just a working title.
There's no hint on a release date either, although we now know the game is very much in a playable state and ready to be seen by the public. The launch window will possibly be influenced by the fan reception during the testing period.
The Codename Jade closed beta will be the best look at the gameplay we've had in a while. Admittedly, we got some pretty expansive leaks in December of last year, but official trailers don't give us much outside of quick glimpses at combat and traversal. Reactions to the game so far have been mixed, with some believing it's not totally in the spirit of Assassin's Creed, and also fearing for its quality due to the fact that it's a mobile release. Ubisoft will certainly be hoping to change some minds going into the closed beta.

Ubisoft is certainly keeping itself busy with the Assassin's Creed series, recently giving us more info on another upcoming title, Assassin's Creed Mirage. This is set to launch on October 12, 2023, so the devs recently conducted a Q&A with fans. Here, we were told that it will take about as long to complete as the older Assassin's Creed games, so we're probably looking at something around the 20-hour region. Likely a nice change of pace for those burnt out on the more bloated modern titles.
