Highlights

  • Exoprimal has received mixed reception, with some players thoroughly enjoying it and others disappointed by the lack of enemy variety among the dinosaurs.
  • Adding dinosaurs such as Inostrancevia, Oviraptor, and Dimetrodon could provide much-needed variation in enemy types and gameplay modes in Exoprimal.
  • The inclusion of Brontosaurus, Mosasaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Therizinosaurus, Spinosaurus, and Godzillasaurus as enemies would offer unique challenges and add excitement to the game.

Exoprimal, Capcom's multiplayer dinosaur-fighting online service game, has had middling reception among those currently playing it, with some thoroughly enjoying it and others disappointed by some of its aspects. Although there are technically a lot of dinosaurs in the game since they appear in massive hordes, there's not much enemy variety as many players would prefer.

Between all the Raptors, Triceratops, Ankylosaurs, Carnotaurus, and more, there are still an abundance of different dinosaurs from across eras and between different environments that could be added to Exoprimal, including some that have appeared in past dinosaur-centric series, including those from Capcom's own Dino Crisis.

10 Inostrancevia

A mammal-like dinosaur, Inostrancevia, were featured as enemies in Dino Crisis 2. They are technically ancestors of dinosaurs as they appeared before dinosaurs did, but they are often grouped together anyway due to their reptilian similarities.

The largest known Gorgonopsians, Inostrancevia had large canine teeth and strong jaws capable of delivering powerful bites that could be fatal. To help showcase this if they were an enemy in Exoprimal, a successful bite attack could reduce the majority of an Exofighter's health if under a certain amount, causing players to do whatever they can to avoid being bitten by this powerful prehistoric creature.

9 Oviraptor

Dinosaurs are well-known as ancestors to modern birds, with one of the most bird-like dinosaurs to exist being the Oviraptor. They have appeared in various dinosaur-related media, and other than their bird-like features, they are known for stealing eggs from unattended nests, as it is what their diet primarily consisted of.

While introducing these dinosaurs to Exoprimal would help provide some variation with Raptor-type enemies, they could also be introduced through a new mode revolving around each team collecting orbs while fighting dinosaurs, with Oviraptors stealing them if the Exofighters aren't paying close attention. This would also provide an excellent way to give Exoprimal more game mode variety.

8 Dimetrodon

Several Dimetrodons were featured in Jurassic World: Dominion, and like Inostrancevia, are often grouped together with dinosaurs, despite not technically being one and existing long before them. Scientists believe that the large sail Dimetrodons had on their backs was meant for temperature regulation, which would also help boost their stamina, allowing them to hunt prey more often.

Since Dimetrodons are relatively medium-sized creatures, they would have to appear in small groups in Exoprimal rather than massive hordes, preferably coming on to land from shallow water, which are the areas where they hunted their prey. The sail on their backs could also act as shields for hypothetical enhanced Neo Dimetrodon enemies.

7 Compsognathus

An odd choice given that these dinosaurs would be by far the smallest enemies in the game, but this could allow for even larger hordes of them. Featured in The Lost World: Jurassic Park film and the first two Dino Crisis games, these dinosaurs are almost always seen traveling in packs.

In the first Dino Crisis, these tiny prehistoric reptiles are just annoying enemies that appear a few times, while in Dino Crisis 2, they're known for stealing items. Since items aren't currently a feature in Exoprimal, Compsagnathus enemies could either drain overdrive energy when attacking or temporarily steal the team's dominator if they have gained one, proving to be a nuisance despite their small stature.

6 Brontosaurus

They may have been herbivores, but that doesn't exclude them from being potential enemies, particularly since several other herbivores already are. Famous due to its tall stature and appearance in movies like The Land Before Time and an accidental mention in Jurassic Park when a character spots Brachiosaurs, Brontosaurus enemies would be far from pushovers.

While the Brontosaurus would not be the first herbivorous enemy in Exoprimal, it would be the first of the long-neck dinosaur species to appear in the game. The Brontosaurus' size would also make it a force to be reckoned with, as it would be one of the largest unenhanced enemies in the game.

5 Mosasaurus

Many may be familiar with the Mosasaurus due to its appearance in 2015's Jurassic World film as well as Jurassic World Evolution 2 and its predecessor, but it has also appeared as an enemy in Dino Crisis 2. The Mosasaurus was an aquatic dinosaur that hunted various other large marine creatures, such as sharks and plesiosaurs, making it a terrifying threat in the water.

Although none of the maps currently featured in Exoprimal heavily feature water-centric environments, there seem to be some bodies of water nearby on current maps, so seeing some in the future is still possible. Of course, the strategy for fighting an enemy Mosasaurus would have to involve attacking it when it breaches the surface, then regrouping and recovering when it dives back down.

4 Quetzalcoatlus

Pteranodons may be prevalent in Exoprimal, but the Quetzalcoatlus may be an alternative option for those who desire to fight bigger flying dinosaurs that are somewhat easier to target and likely more durable. Briefly seen in Jurassic World: Dominion, as the largest known flying creature to have ever lived, the Quetzalcoatlus would be a challenge to fight if given the right abilities.

Because fighting these massive flyers would be difficult, fighting only one or two at a time would be preferable for less experienced Exofighters. Due to their size, they could also even carry Exofighters away until either dropping them off a cliff or until said Exofighters quickly escape before meeting their demise.

3 Therizinosaurus

Raptors may be a great basic enemy type for Exoprimal, but many other similar dinosaur species could appear as enemies for those who seek more of a challenge. Therizinosaurus were similar to Raptors in some ways but had three large claws on each of their arms. Despite this and other similar features to carnivorous dinosaurs, they were herbivores, and their claws to helped them consume leaves.

Despite their herbivorous nature, Therizinosaurus were still enemies in the first Dino Crisis, where they could pick up and throw the player and even instantly kill them. If these long-clawed dinosaurs were added to Exoprimal, they could throw Exofighters in smaller Exosuits while causing more direct damage to larger Exosuits since they would be too heavy.

2 Spinosaurus

The true star of Jurassic Park 3, the Spinosaurus, was a large carnivorous dinosaur that may have been adept at hunting on land and in the water. In the film, the Spinosaurus was even able to take down the Tyrannosaurus, the franchise's most fearsome dinosaur, up to that point. It may also be the longest carnivorous dinosaur, but like its hunting methods, this is still heavily debated.

A Spinosaurus enemy in Exoprimal could be a difficult target despite its size if near a body of water, as it could use the water to avoid incoming fire while Exofighters wait for it to come back on land. It could even easily defeat a dominated Tyrannosaurus during its debut, referencing the Jurassic Park 3 scene.

1 Godzillasaurus

godzillasaurus from godzilla vs king ghidorah

Although not a real dinosaur, the Godzillasaurus featured in 1991's Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah and could provide a more fitting way for Exoprimal to crossover with the Godzilla franchise without technically including the King of the Monsters himself. In the film, the Godzillasaurus coincidentally saves a group of Japanese soldiers from the American military and later becomes Godzilla after the atomic bomb drops.

Like some of the current enemies in Exoprimal, the Godzillasaurus has a high level of durability, as shown when the American soldiers fired various weapons at it with little success. The Godzillasaurus wouldn't have Godzilla's signature atomic breath or Shin Godzilla's purple lasers, but it would still be a formidable opponent for even the most battle-hardened Exofighters.
