Highlights

  • Fairy Rose Honey is the most profitable honey flavor, selling for 952g with the Artisan Profession. Plant Fairy Roses in Fall to produce it.
  • Ostrich Eggs and Golden Eggs are valuable items to sell, with Ostrich Eggs selling for 600g and Golden Eggs for 500g. Ostrich Eggs can be hatched or turned into mayonnaise.
  • Truffle Oil is the most expensive animal product, selling for 1,065g. Use pigs to find truffles and process them in an Oil Maker.

Making money in Stardew Valley can be tough in the early years. Selling every foraged flower you find and fishing until the day is over is a grind, and you'll have to subsist however possible until you can start pulling in the big bucks.

Early-game farmers will dream of the days they can start selling items like wine, diamonds, and other high-priced items. But, what are the best items to sell? Of course, profit, buying price, and availability come into play, but what are the items that simply sell for the highest sheer price?

Updated on July 24, 2023, by Rosa Baumgartl: This list is getting an update thanks to some of the new features added to Stardew Valley, such as expensive new Fish to find and different ways to obtain the best rare items. Don't forget to hoard everything, it might be worthwhile later in the game.

19 Fairy Rose Honey

Stardew Valley Honey
  • Base Price: 680g

Regular honey (called Wild Honey in the game) is an easy-to-produce item that will appear in bee houses after they're placed around your farm every few days. However, they'll produce flavored honey if different flowers are planted nearby, within a certain number of tiles.

If you plant Fairy Roses nearby, which only grow in Fall, you'll be able to produce Fairy Rose Honey. This is the most profitable of the flavors of honey, selling for a nice 952g if you have the Artisan Profession.

18 Ostrich Eggs And Golden Eggs

Ostrich
  • Ostrich Egg Base Price: 600g
  • Golden Egg Base Price: 500g

With the 1.5 update, there came two new types of eggs that you can obtain. Both will also fetch you a pretty penny.

The first is the Ostrich Egg, which can be obtained by solving Secret Note #10 or from chests in the Volcano Dungeon. You'll need to help Professor Snail finish the fossil sets at the Island Field Office to hatch an Ostrich Egg, though. However, the eggs themselves sell for quite a nice bit of gold, 600g at their base price, and up to 1,440g for iridium-quality ones with the Rancher profession. However, throw them into a Mayonnaise Machine and they'll produce ten batches of Mayo of the same quality.

Golden Eggs are obtained after reaching True Perfection (100 percent completion). They'll hatch into Golden Chickens, which lay a Golden Egg every day. These eggs only sell for 500g, which isn't much, but they'll produce three gold-quality Mayo when placed in a Mayonnaise Machine, which is definitely nice.

17 Dino Mayo

A player stands in a coop filled with dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs
  • Base Price: 800g

Speaking of the Artisan profession: many of the items on this list will require it. Some, like Dinosaur Mayo, do sell for a hefty profit at their base price. But, if you're looking to make the most profit, the Artisan profession is incredibly helpful.

Without it, Dino Mayo sells for a very respectable 800g. However, if you have the Artisan profession, that green condiment will sell for a beautiful 1,120g. One jar is also required for the Missing Bundle. You thought regular Mayonnaise was a nice way to earn some money? Throw some Dino Eggs in that Mayonnaise Maker and retire in comfort.

16 Cooking Recipes

Stardew Valley Cooking
  • Triple Shot Espresso base price: 450g
  • Tropical Curry base price: 500g

Most dishes aren't worth your trouble if you're looking to make a buck. But there are two that, despite being really easy to make, also sell for a decent amount. Triple Shot Espressos are made using three cups of Coffee, which require five Coffee Beans in a Keg. Buy the recipe for 5,000g from Gus as an initial investment. If you add Qi's Seasoning, each cup sells for 675g.

Tropical Curry requires Coconuts, Peppers, and Pineapple, all of which are easy to grow in abundance on Ginger Island. You'll need to unlock the Island Resort to buy the recipe in the first place for 2,000g. But, if you need something to spend your Qi Gems on, Seasoned Tropical Curry sells for a reasonable 750g.

15 Starfruit

  • Base Price: 750g

If you can get your hands on Starfruit seeds early in the game, you should take full advantage of them. This fruit is considered one of the best ones in the entire game, and if the greenhouse is unlocked early on in the game, they can be grown all year and turned into wine and preserves for extra money.

The Starfruit itself sells for quite a bit of gold. Normally, the price of a single fruit is about 1,125g, but if you have the Tiller profession, the price is bumped to 1,237g.

14 Rabbit's Foot

  • Base Price: 565g

Continuing with animal products, many of which are worth hefty profits, you'll find some gold in selling off the produce of your rabbits as well. If the rabbits in your coops like you a lot, are very happy and fed, and you get a bit lucky, they may drop a Rabbit's Foot.

With the Rancher profession, these lucky charms will sell for a nice 1,356g at Iridium quality. As a bonus, they're loved by almost every villager when given as a gift.

13 Truffle Oil

Stardew Valley Oil Maker With Truffle Oil
  • Base Price: 1,065g

Dino Mayo and Rabbit's Feet are great, but the real profit from the world of animal products comes in the form of Truffle Oil. This artisan product, which is made in an Oil Maker from Truffles that your pigs find, is probably the most expensive animal product in the game.

With the Artisan profession, Truffle Oil will sell for 1,491g. Without it, it still sells for a high 1,065g. Even the Truffles themselves are nice, with Iridium-quality ones selling for 1,250g without even being turned into Oil first.

12 Lava Eel/Ice Pip/Blobfish

  • Lava Eel Base Price: 700g
  • Ice Pip Base Price: 500g
  • Blobfish Base Price: 500g

An easy way to make a bit of money on the side while waiting for other productions to finish is to go fishing. Not only is this side hustle relaxing, but it can also be economically lucrative, especially if you hunt for the right fish.

Lava Eels, Ice Pips, and Blobfish are the most profitable outside the Legendary Fish. With the Angler profession, an Ice Pip or Blobfish sells for 1,500g at the top quality. Lava Eels sell for a crazy 2,100g at top quality. Good luck reeling them in though.

11 Diamonds

Stardew Valley Quarry Of Crystalariums With Diamonds In Summer
  • Diamond base price:750g

Diamonds should be everyone's best friend in Stardew, as not only are they a loved or liked gift by everyone, they can easily become a passive form of income. Found in the mines in Diamond and Gem Nodes, or even while fishing or panning, and some fish will produce them when you level up their Pond.

Once you've found one keep it, and place it in your first Crystalarium, which is often a reward from the Museum, to produce a new one every five days. Take the Gemologist profession to increase the selling price to 974g.

10 Pearls

  • Pearl base price: 2,500g

Much less common than Diamonds, but selling for a lot more, are Pearls. The most consistent way to farm them is to fill Fish Ponds with Blobfish and keep them super happy for a 1.9 percent chance every day. Artifact Troves have much better rates at 3.7 percent, but these are hard to get your hands on.

Willy will gift you one for filling a Fish Pond with ten Crabs, and if you activate the Shrine of Challenge, it's possible to find them in the Mines.

9 Slime Eggs

  • Base Price:
    • Green: 1,000g
    • Blue: 1,750g
    • Red: 2,500g
    • Purple: 5,000g
    • Tiger: 8,000g

You'll start to find Slime Eggs once you've built a Slime Hutch on your farm. When placed inside a Slime Egg Incubator, they'll hatch into a new Slime. It's often the case that you shouldn't sell them, because you can hatch them into new Slimes. However, if your Slime Hutch is full, new Slime Eggs can fetch a good price when sold.

Different colors of Slime Eggs sell for different amounts of gold. However, they're all profitable. Green is the lowest, selling for 1,000g. Blue ones sell for 1,750g, red for 2,500g, and purple for 5,000g. In the 1.5 update, Tiger Slimes were added. Their Eggs sell for a whopping 8,000g.

8 Ancient Fruit Wine

Ancient Fruit are a rare type of crop that can be made from Ancient Seeds. Although this fruit takes a full 28 days to form, it will produce one Ancient Fruit every seven days.

At minimum, this wine still sells for an amazing 1,650g. You can place Ancient Fruit Wine in a cask to age it, increasing the price even more. An Iridium quality wine with the Artisan profession will sell for an impressive 4,620g.

7 Prismatic Shard

prismatic shard
  • Price: 2,000g

These rainbow-colored gems are very rare and used for a wide variety of purposes. so it's unlikely you'll have a ton of them sitting around that you can sell. But, if you are very lucky and do have a few extra, they're worth a hefty profit.

Each Prismatic Shard goes for 2,000g. If you have the Gemologist profession, that number bumps up to a cool 2,600g. It's too bad that they can't be generated endlessly in a Crystalarium. Throw a Diamond in one of those, though — each sells for 750g (975g with Gemologist).

6 Golden Pumpkin

Stardew Valley Fall Hedge Maze
  • Base Price: 2,500g

The Golden Pumpkin is a fairly rare item that can only be obtained in two ways. The easiest way to get this shiny gourd is to complete the maze during the Spirit's Eve Festival.

You will also have around a three percent chance to get a Golden Pumpkin when opening Artifact Troves. Overall, the Pumpkin is rare, but it can either be sold for a nice amount of gold or given to a villager, as it's a universally loved gift.

5 Radioactive Bars

via Nico-Kun!/Steam
  • Base Price: 3,000g

Radioactive Bars are a newer item, made by smelting radioactive ore. This ore can be difficult to obtain at first, but once you have it, you can make glowing-green bars.

Radioactive Bars have an impressive price of 3,000g, but this will go up to 4,500g with the Blacksmith profession. Radioactive Bars are hard to come by, but if you happen to have a few extra lying around, then selling them is a great way to make money.

4 Sweet Gem Berry

sweet gem berry
  • Base Price: 3,000g

Hands down the most profitable crop before being turned into an artisan good — the Sweet Gem Berry is produced from a Rare Seed, which can be purchased at the traveling cart. At the base price, these berries sell for 3,000g. If they're gold quality, that number soars to 4,500g per berry.

Seeing as the traveling cart sells the Rare Seed for 600g to 1,000g each, the profit is much higher than you might think when you consider paying for the expensive seed. These berries can't be turned into wine or jelly, but they don't need to be at that price.

3 Stardrop

via LaCritica009/Steam
  • Base Price: 7,777g

Stardrops are the little purple fruit that boosts your energy. Typically, you will obtain a Stardrop and then eat it, but this isn't required. If you decide that you don't want the extra energy, you can also sell it.

At 7,777g, this fruit sells for quite a lucky price. There are only seven Stardrops available in the game as well, making them pretty rare. Interestingly, you can buy a Stardrop from Krobus for 20,000g.

2 Treasure Chest

end of day sales sheet with treasure chest added for 5,000g
  • Base Price: 5,000g

If you are fishing, you may come across a treasure mini-game. Unlocking the attached chest will grant you an item, or even a couple of items, granted you catch the fish at the same time. One of these items can, confusingly, be a Treasure Chest.

This item exists purely to be sold for a bit of extra profit. When you do sell it, it'll net you a nice 5,000g. It can also be produced by a Fish Pond filled with Spook Fish or found in Artifact Troves. Secret Note #16 will also lead you to a buried Treasure Chest, like a real pirate.

1 Legendary Fish

A player catching a legendary fish in the mountains
  • Base Price:
    • Crimsonfish: 1,500g
    • Son of Crimsonfish: 1,500g
    • Angler: 900g
    • Ms Angler: 900g
    • Legend: 5,000g
    • Legend II: 5,000g
    • Glacierfish: 1,000g
    • Glacierfish Jr: 1,000g
    • Mutant Carp: 1,000g
    • Radioactive Carp: 1,000g

While not the best way to make money, as you only get one of each per save file, the ten Legendary Fish sell for the highest amounts of anything in the game. At Iridium-quality and with the Angler profession, the Angler and Ms Angler will sell for 2,700g, the Mutant Carp, Radioactive Carp, Glacierfish Jr, and Glacierfish will sell for 3,000g each, and the Crimsonfish and its Son net a nice 4,500g each.

But, the undeniable kings are the Legend and Legend II. At top quality and with the right profession, these rare fish sell for a whopping 15,000g, making them the highest-selling item in the entire game. Get fishing, farmers.
