I did, but only because I reviewed it. Check the game’s website and you’ll find Netflix sitting pretty next to all the other platforms Oxenfree 2 has been released on. Yet despite the indie being fairly highly anticipated, and possibly the biggest game with a day one launch on the streaming platform thus far, Netflix hasn’t been making much kerfuffle about it. The first Oxenfree was critically acclaimed, with nominations at The Game Awards and the BAFTAs. You’d think that Netflix would capitalise on that to call attention to its largely overlooked game collection, but seems to barely market its games at all.

For some reason, fans decided to make this a PO box opening General Sam would never forget, gifting him a dead pig and a uranium ore. Yes, really.

<![CDATA[Oh Great, Elon Musk Is Having A Tantrum About Meta's Threads]]> If you’re on Twitter, you’re likely already up to date with Elon Musk’s various missteps as Twitter’s owner and ‘Chief Twit’. He’s run the company into the ground, made the platform terrible for users, and in his most recent move, rate-limited tweets so that users could only see a certain number of tweets per day. This has since been silently reversed, but it was the straw that broke the camel’s back for many. People have been fleeing to alternative platforms ever since, convinced that Twitter will never regain its functionality. Threads is one of those platforms, and while I have serious issues with its privacy policy and its overall terrible vibes, it seems a whole lot more functional than Twitter.

<![CDATA[Piracy Is Coming Back, Baby!]]> This week, Disney removed a film called Crater from Disney Plus, which had been released on May 12, 2023. This means it was on the streaming platform for just 48 days, or about seven weeks. Disney hasn’t said why, but it seems most likely that it didn’t perform well enough and the company decided to remove it to write down the value of its “content assets”, therefore lowering their taxes. It’s all about the money, and always has been, and there are unfortunate consequences that come with this.

While these people are certainly famous on the internet, there is a large handful of celebrities from politics, acting, and the music industry that have used the platform to interact with fans and stream different video games.

<![CDATA[The Colleen Ballinger Drama Is More Complicated Than You Think]]> Earlier this week, Colleen Ballinger, best known for her online persona Miranda Sings, uploaded a video simply titled ‘hi.’ to her third YouTube channel, Colleen Vlogs. In it, she addresses allegations against her relating to inappropriate relationships she had with fans who were minors at the time. She did this by, in an overwhelmingly surreal twist, performing a song on the ukulele. The video went so viral that if people didn’t know about the allegations before, they sure did now. People were hearing her name for the first time ever in the context of her denying that she was a groomer.

<![CDATA[xQc Trying To Buy Magic The Gathering's The One Ring Proves Cards Are Now A Lottery]]> There has always been an element of risk to trading cards. You buy a booster pack without knowing what's in it, and you might get cards that are great, cards that are rubbish, or cards that you already have. My first experience with this whole phenomenon wasn't with trading cards at all, but with football stickers, where everything could be split into two categories: 'got' and 'need'. In the modern world, things are not so pure and simple. There is a complex economy to trading cards these days, where value is arbitrary and through the ceiling. Nowhere is this more apparent than Magic the Gathering's The One Ring card in the new The Lord of the Rings expansion, as xQc's pursuit of it reveals.

<![CDATA[Here's Why Everyone Hates Kick Streaming]]> Livestreaming services come and go more often than the tides ebb and flow, lapping at the sandy shores of streamers’ daydreams in order to siphon as much money from viewers as possible before rapidly retreating, leaving only muddy estuary sand and abandoned dreams of stardom in their wake. You’ll know the fates of Vine and Mixer already, so why are streamers flocking to Kick, when it looks like just another faddy livestreaming service in a long line of failed Twitch clones? The reasons are numerous, and many of them deplorable.

<![CDATA[Why Are Pokimane, Amouranth, And xQc Arguing Over Twitch?]]> Make sure you're sitting down for this one, because I have some shocking news: there's drama in Streamerville. The big story right now is the impact newcomer Kick is making on the scene, shelling out huge sums for both xQc and Amouranth to move to the platform. Twitch is in a weakened state right now, having made a series of terrible business decisions, and Kick arrives as the new kid on the block with an ideology that appeals to both fans and creators. Not all creators though: Pokimane is unconvinced, and that's where the drama begins.

<![CDATA[What Is xQc Doing At Kick?]]> xQc’s whole deal is that he’s a provocateur. His entire career, he has built his audience by existing right on the edge of the line. He’s had five different bans from Twitch, for everything from watching the Olympics to showing gorillas having sex, and streaming as an agent of chaos has brought him huge success. None huger than his move to Kick, for which he has been paid an NBA-style salary of $70 million over two years, which could rise to $100 million. But that only makes what he’s doing with his time even more confusing.

To make matters worse, the platform has been slowly losing its biggest stars (with others threatening to leave) to rival streaming platform Kick, which appears to have serious ambitions of dethroning Twitch as the premiere streaming service. <![CDATA[If Any Tech Wants To Succeed, It Must Embrace Gaming]]> Everybody wants a slice of the future. It's something in the way capitalism moves - it used to be enough to just make more money than you spent, then it was the grind to make more money year on year to appease the shareholders, and now even that's not enough. What companies are doing now is not as straightforward as just trying to make money, they are making plans to make money a decade from now. That's why, despite being highly experimental, companies are rushing to make use of NFTs, the Metaverse, AI, AR, and VR. Some, most, or even all of these brave new worlds could fail. But one thing's for sure - whatever the future is, gamers will be in the driver's seat.

This has people like Trainwreck and Moist Critikal talking openly about their plans to end their exclusive streaming on Twitch in order to start streaming on Kick, which has a very generous 95/5 split with its streamers.
