Five Nights at Freddy's fans have been eating well recently, mostly down to all the new details being shared for the upcoming release of the movie adaptation that's set to release this October. In fact, we got a brand new trailer earlier today, giving us a further look at the movie's animatronics, some new plot details, and the revelation that Springtrap will also play a part in the story in some capacity.
However, a lot of Five Nights at Freddy's fan believe the very brief glimpse we get of Springtrap isn't actually him, at least not yet. The vast majority of thinks think that it's actually child serial killer and movie antagoinst William Afton in a worn down Spring Bonnie suit, mostly because you can slightly make out a part of Afton's cheek in the animatronic's mouth.
For those not up to date with their Five Nights at Freddy's lore, the animatronic known as Springtrap is actually possessed by the spirit of William Afton, who dies whilst hiding inside the Spring Bonnie suit from the spirits of the children he murdered. Afton is killed via a process fans called "springlocking", as the suit's exoskeleton malfunctions and skewers whoever is inside.
Given that Afton appears to be alive and well in the movie, seemingly giving protagonist Mike Schmidt his job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, fans are convinced that Afton will be springlocked at some point. If that does happen, it means that the movie will shake up the Five Nights at Freddy's lore a little bit, but it's probably be fine since series creator Scott Cawthorn has been heavily involved in production.
Springtrap/Spring Bonnie's brief appearance wasn't the only fun little discovery in the movie's latest trailer, as popular Five Night at Freddy's YouTuber Cory Kenshin was also spotted. It's unlikely that he'll be a big part of the movie, especially since he appears to be playing a taxi driver, though his appearance is a fun little nod for his fans and for Five Night at Freddy's fans in general. We're still yet to confirm if Markiplier is in the movie at all, something that are fans are itching to find out.
