There aren't many companies out there that have been around even nearly as long as Disney. After all, the company was founded in the 1920s. A big reason for Disney's longevity is the success it has had in the film industry. It makes an incredible amount of money these days from movies since it owns the likes of Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar.

Yet, the company doesn't always have to seek outside help to create compelling and successful films. Many great feature flicks have been produced by Disney themselves since the 1930s. But most people don't know exactly how many films the company has made in total. Here is the answer to that question.

Disney Has Made 493 Movies

There are 493 Disney movies, including everything from animated titles to live-action affairs. It doesn't matter if they were released in theaters, went straight to video/DVD, or were put exclusively on Disney Plus. As long as Disney made them, they count.

This number doesn't account for major co-productions such as Pixar films or movies Disney only distributes, like Marvel and Star Wars flicks. So, if you included every title that Disney was involved in in some way, the total would be even bigger.

The large number shouldn't be too surprising since Disney has been making movies since the 1930s. Their first release came in 1937 in the form of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which is still very well-known today.

Several of the other most famous ones have actually been remade, such as The Lion King and Aladdin. The remakes are also included in the total number.

Pixar Has Made 27 Movies

Disney and Pixar are very closely associated, so it's interesting to also look at how many the latter has made. The answer to that question currently stands at 27.

Disney has distributed every single one of Pixar's films, including the ones that were released before Disney owned Pixar.

Therefore, you could claim that the likes of Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Inside Out are essentially Disney movies. Yet, they certainly look and feel more like Pixar films.
