Here, we are going to answer all of your questions about Kick, including what services it provides, when it launched, and who is on it. Additionally, we'll take a look at the differences between Kick and Twitch.

What Is Kick?

Kick is a livestreaming service that caters to gamers. On the site, you can stream your own content, as well as watch others play. Similarly to Twitch, livestreams have a chat section, and you can donate to streamers.

If you aren't sure who to watch, you can also use the 'Browse' button to explore content on the platform. From here, you can narrow your search by topics such as music, IRL, or even gambling.

Kick Interface

After looking at Kick for a few seconds, you may realize that it has a near identical layout to Twitch. From a distance, the websites may even be the same.

Who Created Kick?

Kick launched on December 1, 2022, but currently, we don't know who the original founders are. We do, however, know the company that backs Kick, which is Stake.com. This is an online casino website that deals with cryptocurrency.

What Makes Kick Stand Out?

So, what's the appeal of Kick? The streaming service has less moderation than Twitch, and streamers on the platform only have a five percent revenue charge, meaning Kick only takes five percent of the revenue streamers earn from subscriptions, leaving them with a full 95 percent.

Twitch, on the other hand, has a 50 percent revenue charge for the top streamers, which overall, means less money for the streamer. This alone is an enticing reason to join Kick, as streamers will see more of the income that they bring in.

Unfortunately, while Kick streamers can earn more, the lack of moderation poses some problems. Since the site is backed by a cryptocurrency casino, there is no ban on gambling, which is currently present on Twitch. Because of this, there are several streamers that stream gambling content.

Gambling by itself isn't inherently a bad thing. When you look at online streaming platforms though, it's important to note that children make up a large portion of users. The combination of children and gambling is not too great. Across the United States, the gambling age limit is either 18 or 21, depending on the state.

While the community guidelines list several rules that streamers and subscribers must follow, Ed Craven (co-founder of Stake.com) stated that the only two rules are “'no pornography' and 'no hate speech.'”

The short answer is a lot of people. The low revenue charge has drawn in many streamers, including some previous powerhouses on Twitch. Below, you can check out some popular streamers that have made the switch to Kick.

Much of the attention Kick has received is due to these streamers' presence on the platform. Interestingly, Kick and xQc signed a deal to stream on Kick for two years. This deal can potentially earn him up to $100 million.
